Help!! My cat is leaving her hair everywheres!!!?

She is 16 years old, and ever since the nicer weather, she has been going outside, and in the past week all of her hair is starting to fall out. she slept on my bed last night and there was a big pile of hair where ever she laid. I see one patch on her today that was totally without hair.. Is this what used to be called Mange?

Taking her age into consideration I would strongly suggest you take her to the vet. While it is normal for outdoor cats to shed during warmer weather, this sounds extreme. Hair loss can mean many things. One of which is a deficiency in her diet. She may not be digesting her food properly.

The cat I had for 17 years was fine until she hit about 16, then she started having trouble with her kidneys and peeing all the time. She started losing hair about 6 months later and it was because she had a very bad infection.

Be safe, see the vet.

I have the solution.

Put the sleeping cat on the driveway behind your car in the morning. When you leave for work, the problem will be solved!

It's natural for the cat to shed some of its coat when it gets warmer outside. It's natures way of keeping them cooler! An easy way to clean up the extra hair is to take masking tape, the wider the better, and wrap it sticky side out around your hand, then pat it over the area where the fur is.

Maybe because of the change in weather shes starting to shed.

No. Cats shed more as they are older. Bath her and brush her once a week and that should cut down on the hair problem to a certain degree.

I don't think it is. I think they have a skin rash with mange. But it could be something else that is serious. You may need to have her checked.

She is 16, but ,if she is healthy you should buy the new brand of cat food(I think I can't say brand names here, but you will ask for it in stores) that just came out for this problem of shedding! "Mange " itches and she will scratch the spot, I don't think is that.

I have a pug and a ragdoll, both shed but the pug sheds excessively!!! I found a pet brush called the "furminator". It works different than an ordinary pet brush, and so far has worked quite well on my pets. You might be able to find it in stores, I got mine off ebay. Check out http://www.furminator.com/

Change in diet might also be necessary. If nothing else works, do the obvious and talk to your vet. Best of luck!

I have a similar problem with my Persian cat. A small vacuum cleaner and a lint pic-up(adhesive) will help you. A lot of patience of course, If she is 16 old is a member of your family and deserves a lot of care.

Taking into consideration her age, you might want to take her to the vet. The shedding could be hiding another problem. I don't think it is Mange, because it would itch and she would be scratching like there is no tomorrow. After consulting the vet, if it is natural then use masking tape wrapped around your hand and pat her softly.

one of my cats does the same thing. ..she will be washing herself to take a nap and will be YANKING out wads of hair. I will vaccuum, and a short time later see big clumps of white hair on my blue rug. ONE-she is a nervous cat and gets stressed over things (thunder, another cat, ) and another thing is when she has fleas. I did take her to the vet, I just have those advantage flea drops to put on her neck, and try to love her. The hair yanking comes and goes. so take her to the vet, to be sure, and then know that all of them have different personalities. good luck.
