A question for someone who will take time to answer! I need BIG help with a hair problem?

So im 14 and im sikh

im not allowed to cut my hair because of my religion which is dumb since every other sikh girl my age has cut her hair but my mom just wont allow it and idk how my dad feels about it

i need help figuring out how to convince them, how to make them understand how im a loner at school because of my hair and how it sucks that EVERYBODY has a hair cut except me

its hard having hair thats down to your butt

and i lost alot of it so now its thin and long and i have bad bad split ends cause ive NEVER cut it in my 14 years!!!

i cant leave it open cause its embarressing and i hate wearing it in a braid everyday so i but it in a bun and try to hide it

i tried talking to my mom about it once openly and she said no and got all "what did i do wrong in bringing you up? havent you learned why we dont cut our hair?" she doesnt see my side of it. she started crying and so did i and then i never said anything again

Explain to them calmly what you just said to us. Tell them how your hair is damaged, how people at school treat you (which is stupid because it's just hair!) and how it's very hard to style your hair. And I don't want to get you in trouble or anything but if you are dead set on getting your hair cut then she shouldn't be able to stop you. If it is really affecting you then get it cut no matter what they say. If they won't take you to get it cut get a pair of scissors and cut it yourself and then face the consequences, but you'll feel better with all that hair gone, won't you? But don't do this unless you are COMPLETELY POSITIVE it is what you want to do. Keep trying, wear them down!

Well I can see your mom's side here. She doesn't care what ALL the other girls do with their hair. She cares about your integrity.

At the same time, you could try to work out a compromise. Since the hair is unhealthy (I used to have hair that long too, and it does get really scraggly by the end) ask her if you can cut a few inches off to get rid of the damage.

hmmm this is hard one... i understand your point. i would 100% want to cut my hair, specially if they are down my butt, thats just too much.

first thing that i would say it, that not cutting your hair for so long is really not healty for your hair! hair needs cutting and trimming. that makes it fresh and healthy. so i would definitely start with the healthy point. try to tell your mom, that girls make fun of you, because your ends look really damaged. plus you made a point yourself, that when hair is too long, it's getting thin (it's too heavy and falls out a lot) and you definitely don't want that!

if your mom doesn't understand that it is i portant to have healthy hair (that it's not about fashion), she might be ok with it....?

tell your mom times have changed and you dont have the same beliefs she does. it is your body and your life and if you want to cut your hair you damn well should be allowed to.

well confrount her about how u are self consice of it and ask her how she would feel if she was put in your postin...ask her if she has ever gotten her hair cut..or if she ever thought about it when she was your age be very open and kind to her and do not begin to cry or complain if she doesnt budge begin to bargin with her .."I will do this more often fo rmy religion if you let me cut my hair" (bargin somthing with ur relgion) or say that u would be ery grateful if she accepeted.. tell her u respect the ;laws of ur religion but would love to have ur hair cut

my hairstyle was short,,,and i love it,,in ur case i really find it hard to offer u a help..but u know i respect ur religion or practices that ur not allowed to cut ur hair,,but it doesnt matter if ever ull not follow the physical requirements in ur religion,,,but what matters most is ur faith..speaking of ur mother..every mother wants their children look good. maybe she think ur cute in ur hair..and shes just following what are ur practices.....what u need is just a matter of self confidence,,,every one is unique,,,we have different hairstyle,,,and different attitude...dont feel ashamed of who u are,,or what's ur physical features,,,but be proud coz ur unique among others.,,,,be ur self......
