rather than one pin point nerve being hit a few are and it spreads out the signal.
Thats what I believe at least.
Why does it hurt LESS to have big bunches of hair pulled than small ones?
Well, when more hair is pulled, there is thousands of times more strands of hair being pulled, but the force of the pull only increases two or three times.
